The latest horror film from the absolutely prolific Takashi Miike will mark a rare foray into English language territory for the legendary Japanese filmmaker.

The currently untitled movie is a slasher film centered around three friends (Charli XCX, Milly Alcock, and Hailey Gates) who meet up in Kyoto only for one of them to become possessed by a tortured spirit.

It's said that Charli XCX, who conceived and produced the film with Miike, will play the possessed character, and while the pop star's acting roles to date have been incredibly piecemeal, this sure seems like a beefier part that'll test the full extent of her acting chops.

After all, in her recent mock-doc The Moment, Charli performed well as a not-so-fictional version of herself, but playing a more full-bodied, original character who is seemingly put through the wringer here? That'll require a great deal more from her, and one suspects she just might end up surprising people.
