20 Upcoming Movies Facing Huge Issues
11. Nobody Asked For It - John Rambo
There's rarely a more debilitating issue for a film than the simple fact that nobody asked for it and nobody really wants to see it.
Case in point the upcoming Rambo prequel, which casts Noah Centineo as a younger version of everyone's favourite PTSD-riddled war veteran, while David Harbour will play a younger iteration of his iconic handler Sam Trautman.
Even accepting the solid casting and the presence of skilled filmmaker Jalmari Helander (Sisu), how exactly is a Rambo prequel going to stay true to the more hemmed-in original while delivering the action thrills associated with its sequels?
Nobody's likely hiring director Helander - whose Sisu films both tout their fair share of cartoonish action - for something gritty and restrained, at which point it's tough to see how this can convincingly lead into the original Rambo.
Rambo has had a good run, and with Sylvester Stallone now aged out of the role, it seems about time to put the character out to pasture.
