3. Two Competing Projects - A Nightmare on Elm Street Remake

Just as you spend an hour waiting for a bus only for two to come along at the same time, after almost 20 years without a new A Nightmare on Elm Street movie, two competing projects are now racing to enter production.

In July, it was announced that Paramount acquired the U.S. rights to the original Elm Street script from Wes Craven's estate and are planning to produce a franchise reboot, while Warner Bros. and New Line retain the international rights to the series.

And with that in mind, the same month Warner Bros. announced their own Elm Street film, with both projects attempting to enter production before the Paramount-Warner merger is completed.

Apparently, whichever of the two films is the furthest in development by the time the deal closes will be the one that ultimately gets made.

What a truly insane way to make a movie, and frankly, who can expect much good from a film that's racing frantically to meet a corporate deadline? 

And that's without even considering the headache of finding an actor who fans will accept as the new Freddy Krueger.
