2. The TERRIBLE Festival Reviews - Sacrifice

As Hollywood has proven time and time again, it's incredibly tricky to shake a poor first impression, and in that respect Romain Gavras' star-studded new action-comedy Sacrifice just might be cooked already.

Sacrifice stars Chris Evans as Mike Tyler, a movie star who is kidnapped by a radical group which believes that by sacrificing three people, they can save humanity from an impending apocalypse.

It's certainly a fun premise, and with Evans leading a stacked ensemble cast including Anya Taylor-Joy, Vincent Cassel, Sam Richardson, John Malkovich, and Salma Hayek, there's a whole lot to like. In theory, anyway.

But Gavras' film premiered at last year's Toronto International Film Festival to predominantly negative reviews, enough that it was one of the worst-reviewed major films of last year's festival season.

Many critics complained that the film failed to do much interesting with its tantalisingly satirical premise, and the reception caused enough of a stink that it sat unacquired for eight months following its premiere, until Netflix finally picked it up.

None of this is a good look, like, at all.
