20. The Bloated Budget - Fast Forever

Fast Forever is intended to be the grand finale for the Fast and the Furious franchise, though after 2023's Fast X underperformed at the box office against a gargantuan budget of almost $400 million, reports emerged that Universal was keen to deliver a more budgetarily disciplined closing installment.

The studio apparently won't make Fast Forever unless it can be produced for less than $200 million, requiring a reduction in both stunts and cast, and though star-producer Vin Diesel swiftly claimed these issues had been dealt with, the sequel still hasn't started shooting.

In a recent interview, Alan Ritchson - who joined the series' ballooning ensemble in Fast X - said that the ongoing delays were due to the production being "too expensive," and though he was optimistic it would get shot eventually, he also said it had a "lot of obstacles" to clear first.

A more pared-down Fast and Furious movie isn't the worst idea in the world considering how bloated and unwieldy these films have become, but does anyone really trust Vin Diesel and co. to not deliver an absolute mess of a movie as they desperately race to trim the fat?
