2. Pulse Remake

Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Pulse is one of the greatest horror movies of the 2000s - an impressively prescient tech-horror film that so perfectly captures the paradoxically isolating nature of our increasingly connected world.

And it was recently confirmed that Screen Gems and Spyglass are developing a Hollywood remake, with Dave Boyle (Man from Reno, House of Ninjas) set to direct and Smile filmmaker Parker Finn co-producing.

Boyle's version is said to be a contemporary take focused on a new set of characters, yet it's tough to have any enthusiasm for this considering how brilliantly aged Kurosawa's original is.

And on top of this, Hollywood already remade Pulse in 2006 and it was absolutely terrible, so perhaps there's a lesson worth taking away from that.

While this new take certainly has a more promising creative team behind it, why can't they tell an original tech-horror story rather than cynically dine out on a classic?
