After introducing Wolverine in the original X-Men movie, X2 took a deeper look into Logans backstory and unveiled the villainous Col. William Stryker for the first time. Although Stryker is a mainstay of the X-Men comic books, his appearance in the X-Men franchise opened up Logans story for the uninitiated. And in the cinematic universe, he was every bit as nasty as his comic book counterpart; responsible for Wolverines memory loss (as well as his Adamantium skeleton), William Stryker led the Weapon X programme; a paramilitary project designed to create living weapons. Of course, his latest project is unveiled to be his assistant Lady Deathstrike who soon ends up battling it out with Wolverine in an epic duel within the confines of the Adamantium smelting room. Its an action-packed yet subtly-ironic scene that puts Wolverine back to where it all began. But there are no prizes for guessing who comes out on top.
