Wonder Woman: Story, Casting & Director For Justice League Film

With so many films in development for the various configurations of the Justice League here is a suggestion for DC’s film introduction to the team.

With a Justice League movie greenlit and a script underway---possibly even finished---the big question comic fanboys and fangirls have is how can a Justice League movie be pulled off? Which heroes will be featured in the JLA lineup and will they get their own lead-in movie prior to a release or perhaps as a spinoff after the JLA has saved the Universe and gone their separate ways? It€™s worth mentioning that a lot of the DC heroes either have movies of their own or have been in various stages of development hell for years while others have been released and re-imagined throughout decades. The Flash, Aquaman, and Green Arrow all have films marked as €œin development€ while Superman is returning to the silver screen in 2013 and Batman will arrive in The Dark Knight Rises later this summer. With so many films in development for the various configurations of the Justice League here is a suggestion for DC€™s film introduction to the team:

Wonder Woman (Diana of Themyscira)

Why?: In 2010 The Clash of the Titans returned to the screen, remade and reimagined for a new generation of viewers with fresh faces and spectacular effects that brought the legends of Greek mythology to life. At the same time, the Rick Riordan authored Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief brought Gods and Demi-Gods into the 21st century. The 2012 sequel Wrath of the Titans took things to another level and ensured that the story of the Gods of Olympus would survive another generation. So much interest sets the precedent for DC Comics€™ titular Amazonian warrior Wonder Woman. Far more than the suffragette of superheroes, Wonder Woman is a dynamic heroine in her own right. Feminine in every regard, Wonder Woman is still able to pry information from her enemies with her Lasso of truth and not afraid to make the hard choices that truth might reveal to her---even if it means skirting the line between hero and villain. Just ask Max Lord. Along with the Lasso, Wonder Woman traverses great distances in seconds with the sandals of Hermes, but she never remains too far from her origins wearing her indestructible gauntlets. Modeled after the shackles the women of Themyscira were once enslaved with, they are forged from the Aegis shield of Zeus himself and in tandem with Wonder Woman€™s super human reflexes (a gift from Hermes as well) they allow her to deflect both close and long range attacks. Though Diana hasn€™t been seen on screen in a live action capacity since she was played by Lynda Carter in 1975s The New Adventures of Wonder Woman television series; her story has remained active in the DC Universe---she remains one of the core comics produced by DC as part of their series of relaunched titles €œThe New 52.€ In the animated realm you can find Wonder Woman voiced by Keri Russell (Mission Impossible: III) with Steve Trevor voiced by Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Serenity). Though Fillion isn€™t the only Firefly connection Wonder Woman has. In 2005 Joss Whedon was hired to helm a big screen revival of Wonder Woman though by 2007 he had announced that his involvement as both writer and director had run its course and the film was shelved. More recently Diana was set to return to the small screen, though NBC didn€™t pick up the pilot for development. Click next to read part 2 below, "Story"...
