20 Movie Roles That Were Insanely Miscast
16. Emma Watson - Beauty & the Beast
To a point it's easy to see why Emma Watson was cast as Belle in Disney's live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast - she's beautiful and charming, but that's only part of what an actress needs to pull the part off.
Ultimately it's the singing that lets Watson down, as her musical performance is auto-tuned to the point of distraction throughout, ensuring that for all of her efforts elsewhere, it feels like she just wasn't the right choice overall.
In retrospect many pointed to Emmy Rossum, who is just a few years older than Watson and a classically trained singer, as a stronger choice for Belle, but of course she's not nearly as globally recognisable.
In the end Watson's ill casting didn't stop Beauty and the Beast grossing $1.266 billion worldwide, but it does make sitting through the musical sequences a bit of a slog - hardly what anyone wants.
