15. Jeremy Irvine - Return to Silent Hill

There are admittedly many, many, many problems with the recent Return to Silent Hill, but one of the most prominent issues is the wet noodle casting of Jeremy Irvine as protagonist James Sunderland.

Though it doesn't help at all that the script largely butchers the beloved video game source material, Irvine - who has been plenty competent in other films - seems completely lost as the alcoholic, psychologically tormented man around whom the story revolves.

Even accepting that fans have a very specific conception of what James should be like from the game, Irvine's flat deliveries and generally spaced-out performance fail to do justice to the game's shattering portrayal of grief.

Again, he's hardly at total fault and few actors could've probably done much good with such ropey writing, but never once does Irvine convince as the live-action counterpart to one of gaming's most fascinatingly twisted protagonists.
