20 Recent Movies EVERYONE Knew Would Suck

7. Psycho Killer

Movies named after hit songs have a pretty mixed track record, though the new horror-thriller Psycho Killer had a ton of other baggage to deal with - namely its hugely strained development.

Writer Andrew Kevin Walker's first draft of the script was produced in 2007, after which it cycled through the hands of numerous filmmakers, including Fred Durst, who intended to direct it in 2009.

Despite a few failed attempts to get the film made in the years that followed, progress dried up for about a decade until, finally, it was shot in early 2023 with a budget of just $10 million - barely half the $17 million it was meant to be made for in 2010.

But Psycho Killer spent another three years sat on the shelf before finally releasing, reportedly due to 20th Century Studios having little idea what to do with the film.

Ultimately they released it relatively quietly back in February and didn't even bother screening the film for critics, who unsurprisingly panned it once they eventually saw it.
