Jean Grey: the mutant that everyone remembers for being part of the love triangle between herself, Cyclops and Wolverine, and for not having a cool alias like everyone else. With Apocalypse being set in the 80s, and therefore before either Cyclops or Jean are to join Xavier's school, the two characters will presumably not have met yet. It will be interesting to see how both Jean and Scott become close and from a relationship in their earlier years, and with the timeline being revised, you can thankfully say goodbye to the Phoenix. The writers behind The Last Stand did nothing to help the reception it gained from fans and critics alike, having written themselves into a corner with Jean's character. By having the Phoenix consume Jean's psyche and being an unstoppable force, there was no choice but to have the film reach its conclusion with her death. Like James Marsden, Famke Janssen is now too old to play a younger Jean Grey, so expect a new actor to take up the role if the mutant does return.
