In Life is Strange, you get to experience multiple outcomes firsthand, and choose the one that seems the least consequential (if you're the altruistic type). Of course, you can't see far enough ahead to predict the fallout from every single action - that's what makes life so strange in the eyes of teens like Maxine and Chloe.
With or without mystical time-bending powers, relationships and real life are messy and complicated.
It's hard to portray that in a genuine way with bland or one-dimensional characters. While they start off looking like your typical high school kids, Max and Chloe prove the value of varied and multifaceted female characters in this story-rich adventure.
As an aside, if you're concerned about the Bechdel test, the game passes with flying colors.
