10 Best GTA Characters Of All Time

By Jamie Kennedy /

3. Bernie Crane

Generally speaking, if such a thing even exists, GTA IV was the most serious of all the 3D Grand Theft Auto titles. As a consequence, it is rarely discussed when veterans of the series talk about the best GTA games. There are great moments in the game, of course, but on the whole it painfully lacks that madness which makes some of the others so notable. One exception to this is the character of Bernie Crane, once known as Florian Cravic. One of only three survivors from Niki Bellic's 15-man squad - the story of which plays a central role in the game - along with Niko himself and Darko Brevic, Cravic relocated to Liberty City and changed his lifestyle, to say the least. Upon meeting Cravic, we learn that he's changed his name to Bernie Crane, and is living as an incredibly over-the-top caricature of homosexuals. Dating the Deputy Major, who is married, Crane is a much-needed splash of colour in an-otherwise dull GTA experience. Thank God he's in there, otherwise GTA IV would not have featured on this list at all.
