The presence of Link and Zelda adventuring together in the cinematic trailer, however, caused many to speculate that the game will be introducing co-op gameplay to the mainline series for the first time.

Though fans have been sharply divided on the inclusion of a co-op element, given the likelihood that Breath of the Wild 2 will be shown off by Nintendo during E3 week, we should find out one way or another.

Considering that producer Eiji Aonuma has teased that the game will build on Breath of the Wild's much-loved gameplay in some substantial ways, the inclusion of optional, drop-in, drop-out co-op would be an incredible way to elevate the series and make it even more accessible to casual players.
