10 Cruelest Things We All Did In Famous Video Games
3. Harvesting A Little Sister
While BioShock is one of the more linear examples of great modern gaming - as much by design as anything else given the nature of the story - it did offer the player something of a choice in terms of how they would deal with the Little Sisters when they encountered them.
Set them free and the player gets some ADAM, plus the child survives. Harvest them and the rewards are greater, but the child doesn't survive the process.
While the higher rewards may seem tempting to many players, the fact of the matter is that they are not so high as to justify murdering little children that would otherwise survive the events of the game. Plus, the player still gets a good chunk of ADAM and various rewards for saving them, making it even more pointless to let them die.
Of course, anybody who did decide to harvest them got to watch a terrified little girl try to stop you from ripping into her to get your hands on the special Sea Slugs that contain the ADAM, which would happen more than 20 times if you so chose.
That takes a special brand of heartless cruelty given that the game does such a great job of immersing the player into its world in the first place.
