10 Greatest Horror Video Game Endings

10. Little Nightmares

This Bandai Namco Entertainment title is an excellent gem in horror gaming. While leaving the player powerless is a common trope of the genre, this game takes it to the max, as you work your way through a strange prison as a minuscule character surrounded by giant and gluttonous beasts.

Little Nightmares sees you play as Six, a little girl who awakens in a massive underwater vessel known as the Maw. Armed with only a lighter and the help of some Nomes, you journey through the dark and frightening setting with the hope of finding an exit.

Six's size makes the player feel utterly subject to the whims and threat of the large inhabitants, and the multiple bosses all cement this idea of helplessness. However, as the game progresses, Six starts to show a more malicious side, managing to defeat these giant antagonists and even brutally eating some of the helpful Nomes.

This all comes to a front after you defeat the main boss - The Geisha - absorbing her powers and using it to drain the lives of everyone in the Maw before walking out to freedom. Seeing the roles reversed is incredibly satisfying and makes the ending an integral part of the game's appeal.
