This dark, underlying truth behind the insanely popular anime franchise is by no means limited to the excellent GameBoy games but is also applicable to the other games, films, television series and what ever other mediums weve seen the adorable Pocket Monsters appear in. The sad truth is that Pokémon promotes slavery. No, slavery is not overstating the issue Pokémon show far more intelligence than animals so it cant be compared to capturing creatures for a zoo. Trainers blunder through the long grass and capture each and every Pokémon they want to add to their squad. The Pokémon are then coerced into assisting in the enslavement of more of their kind. Any apparently loving relationship which develops between Pokémon and trainer is just Stockholm Syndrome. This concept is particularly pronounced in the GameBoy games where the only interaction we see between the protagonist and his Pokémon is on the battlefield. As soon as the battle is over, the creature is once again imprisoned in the Pokéball until the next battle or until they are deemed no longer powerful enough when they will be unceremoniously dumped in the computer system.
