10 Obnoxious Viewpoints Closeminded Gamers Hold

1. Games Are Worse Than They Used To Be

It's common in both the movie and video game worlds to take a rose-tinted view of the past; how often have we all heard people lament the current state of cinema, and how movies used to be better in the 1960s and 1970s, something that absolutely is not true. The same applies to video games; many will lament the franchise-obsessed reality of today, but that is to discount that, while contemporary gaming has its share of crappy games, so too did the 1980s and 1990s. There might be more games in production now due to the lesser costs involved with production and distribution, but you have to also remember that, compared to when you were a kid, you're better off monetarily now, so can afford to play more games, and the Internet's flourishing in the last 15 years has generally made us more au fait with the games available out there. Back in the 90s, it was all about gaming magazines which covered only a few small selection of all the games available, and so every other game looked amazing, whereas with the greater selection available today, we also have to be more selective, and naturally sift through more crap. But that doesn't mean that gaming has gotten any worse. In fact, it's quite the opposite; the democratisation of the medium and graphical advances are only making things get better.
