5. A Wonderful Supporting Cast

Having already mentioned Rockstar's skills with location crafting, it would be foolish to fail to applaud the staggering frequency with which they are able to assemble a diverse cast of characters with each new instalment to the series. In the bustling, cultural hub that is Liberty City, this cast has never been stronger or more entertaining. Characters like Brucie Kibbutz, the self-conscious narcissist, or Lil' Jacob, the mellow drug dealer/resilient goon, are what makes a parody of life like Grand Theft Auto keep ticking over. No matter how good the story and gameplay may be, a story-driven game like this simply could not function well without an interesting and believable set of characters to play it out. Many of these characters from Liberty City have managed to leave lasting impressions on the ongoing series, too, with many of them appearing in GTA V in name or sometimes even full appearance. Don't be surprised if these names keep on popping up in GTA VI, as well...
