10 Things No One Wants To Admit About Red Dead Redemption 2

8. The Opening Chapter Is Pretty Dull

The opening two-hour chapter of the game is, honestly, a bit of a slog, and though it certainly lets players know what sort of experience they're in for, it nevertheless kicks the game off in surprisingly flat fashion.

Yes, the opening is fun for a little while, but the tedium of the mostly on-rails objectives, the abundance of forced walking and the excessive tutorialising will likely leave you begging for the open world to emerge long before those two hours are up.

You can argue that Rockstar is setting the tone, but it's still a shame the game doesn't open in more exuberant style with something a little more exciting and interesting (like, say, that botched opening heist of GTA V). Instead, it's a weirdly damp squib, and will certainly make re-playing the game from scratch feel like a bit of a chore.

Thankfully, Chapter 2 onwards is a total home-run, so those earlier feelings of disappointed unease quickly melt away.
