10. Krieg Quotes The Doctors - Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2 is a melting pot of so many pop culture references, there is a section of the game's wiki dedicated solely to explaining them all. Everything from classic literary epic Paradise Lost, to Moby Dick, to the Dark Knight is fair game to Gearbox, but there's plenty of highlights from Britain's beloved time traveller too.

Krieg seems to be channelling several iterations of the Doctor directly; when he wins a duel between players, Krieg shouts "You were fantastic, so was I." Fans of the show will instantly recognise this as a direct callback to the departing lines of Christopher Eccleston's Doctor, which he spoke to Rose just before regenerating:

"Rose... before I go, I just want to tell you, you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And do you know what? So was I!"

Further quotes include the line "I don't want to go!" if downed in combat, again a reference to the last words of David Tennant's run as the Tenth Doctor, as well as a slight misquote of "It's the end... but the meat has been prepared". This references the last words of Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor, who said:

"It's the end... but the moment has been prepared for."
