10 Video Game Reveals That Make You Wish You’d Given Up Instead

10. Betrayal - Dishonoured

Silent protagonists are all well and good for us, as players, to project ourselves into... or something. The drawback is that you can shout, "Hell no, I don't want to be a loose end" until you're blue in the face and it'll still play out the same.

As is the case with Corvo Attano in the first Dishonoured: wrongly accused of a crime he didn't commit, he's rescued from imprisonment by a band of loyalists. The loyalists know what happened and set Corvo and his skills to right the wrongs the new leaders have put into place.

And as expected, these do gooders can't have any loose ends and subsequently try and bump our anti-hero off, lest he spoil their plans. So when the halfway point rolls round and the "good guys" are celebrating, and Corvo is offered a drink, every instinct screams, "Run away!".

But you can't. You have to accept the drink, accept the poisoning with a crud-eating grin and accept the fate we all knew was coming.

At least Samuel the boatman was on our side.
