10 Video Game Villains Who Sneakily Dropped Hints About Their Big Reveal
3. Frank Fontaine - BioShock
When you play BioShock, the only friendly face (or voice) amidst the madness of Rapture is Atlas, the humble leader of the revolution against Andrew Ryan, who guides you through the underwater city in search of an exit.
In reality, Atlas is someone far more nefarious—a man by the name of Frank Fontaine, who led to Rapture's collapse and has brainwashed your character to help him get to the surface.
The reveal of your character's conditioning is absolutely shocking the first time around, but it makes total sense with all the hints Fontaine leaves about his true identity.
There are many small moments when his facade of a humble factory worker cracks, such as when he refers to a Little Sister as an "it" and urges you to kill her.
However, the more memorable hint is Fontaine's clever use of the phrase: "Would you kindly?"
He only says it to you when he gives you an order, because it's secretly an activation code to trigger your conditioning.
The phrase appears specifically when you don't have a choice in the story, so if you pay attention, you can tell something is off about his good Samaritan act.
