The gold-standard of in-game cutscenes, the Final Fantasy series has earned a reputation for including some seriously high-quality cinematic visuals between gameplay, to expand on the story. Well, most of the time that is. Sometimes the player is forced to watch a character engage in horrifically forced bursts of laughter without even the possibility of a reprieve through being able to skip.

This is the case in Final Fantasy X where Yuna consoles Tidus, and attempts to cheer him up by getting him to force a smile. This alone would be pretty okay, but when she then encourages him to engage of fits of unwarranted laughter that come out as a kind-of seagull-like yelp, which, again, the player has absolutely no option to skip through.

Tidus and Yina's love story is pretty sincere and enjoyable throughout, but the unavoidable, cringe-worthy nature of this scene is sure to have made at least one gamer think twice about a second playthrough.
