12 2016 Video Game Gems You Totally Missed
4. STEEP
Dismissed by many as "not good enough to be the next SSX", STEEP still had a number of tricks up its sleeve. Namely, a physics-based trick system that harkened back to the halcyon days of 1080 Snowboarding, but also a really slick multiplayer setup where time trials and scoreboards are constantly being shared between both your social circle, and the world itself.
Such an approach to being 'constantly connected' means you're never at a loss for events to take part in, and as STEEP also lets you change game modes at the touch of a button - zipping between snowboarding, skiing, wingsuits and paragliding - there's a really great sense of just taking in the surrounding environment, before writing your name in it.
STEEP remains a supremely cool idea somewhat totally overlooked due to minimal marketing and an end of year release that was overshadowed completely by Final Fantasy XV. It more than deserves your attention - especially if you can seek it out on the cheap.
