Morality in video gaming isn't a new concept but The Walking Dead mastered it. Every choice in the game felt like it had a massive weight behind it; no other game has made us think of the consequences to our actions like this. Our hero Lee is almost a blank canvas for us to paint our own twisted morality onto that is, unless we're dealing with Clementine. Is there a single person out there that doesn't try to treat Clementine as well as possible? Separated from her parents by the zombie apocalypse, Lee takes the little girl under his wing and teaches her valuable lessons for post-apocalyptic life. It's impossible to abandon her or warp her completely, but upsetting Clementine is to be avoided at all costs, simply for our own sakes. We're rewarded by seeing Clementine grow into a girl that (hopefully) can survive just about anything. She's the main emotional attachment for The Walking Dead thanks to her adorable innocence (her hat must be one of gaming's most iconic accessories by now) but she still possesses the steel needed to make tough decisions, as shown by her playable role in Season Two. Lee's a great guy but every scene with Clementine just reminds us how much we want to rescue her from this living nightmare.
