Metal Gear's story is often labelled as needlessly convoluted, and although it's definitely true that creative overseer Hideo Kojima likes to mould his baby into a variety of different freakish contortions depending on whatever's going through his mind at the time, it hasn't stopped each title being a rollocking ride from start to finish. Highlights from part one include finding out the true identity of a certain codec caller who you can interact with to throughout, and especially when all is said and done in MGS 3 we challenge you not to be reaching for the tissues during those final revelations. Say what you like about how over-stuffed each plot-thread has become, in the end it's the intent to entertain that shines through on every release.
