15 'Always Online' Games That You Can't Play Anymore

4. Concord

You all knew this game would be here. Concord is the horror story that has been written into the halls of history of what not to do with an always-online hero shooter. What still baffles me about Concord is the amount of money Sony poured into this project and just how quickly they kicked it to the curb.

Sony reportedly pumped in $400 million into Concord, although this number has since been disputed by multiple industry journalists. Sony was apparently expecting Concord to be the next big thing, rivaling franchises such as Star Wars. The only glimpse we get of this future is the episode of Secret Level on Amazon Prime.

So it's baffling that with only 2 weeks of servers being live, Sony pulled the plug on the entire franchise. No attempt to fix it, no free-to-play relaunch, nothing. After a dismal launch of only 25,000 units being sold across PC and PlayStation, Sony did not attempt to salvage any of what remained. Maybe it was for the best, but we'll never know. The developer, Firewalk Studios, was eventually closed down by Sony in October of 2024.
