15 'Always Online' Games That You Can't Play Anymore

10. Babylon's Fall

Platinum Games is a fantastic developer at times. They've delivered us some absolute classics such as NieR: Automata, Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (for the dialogue alone, Revengeance is top tier). Platinum has also delivered us some of the worst games of a generation, like The Legend of Korra and TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan. They're a real 'hit or miss' type of team.

Babylon's Fall was a miss. A very big miss. It launched in 2022, and I'm still unsure what Babylon's Fall was trying to be. It was an action RPG hack-and-slash game that, for some reason, had to be always online. Babylon's Fall was absolutely destroyed by critics, receiving low scores across the board, with many critics pointing out its repetitive gameplay, dated visuals and dull level design.

Considering Platinum Games' history of delivering amazing single-player experiences, it was worrying to see them dip into the live service world, as we all know how that goes. Looking at you, Rocksteady.

Not even a full year later, Babylon's Fall was taken offline in February 2023 due to low player counts and poor sales, with the game peaking on Steam with only 1,200 concurrent players and even dropping to single digits.
