15 'Always Online' Games That You Can't Play Anymore
9. Friday the 13th
IllFonic's ill-fated Friday the 13th may not have been the game that we all wanted as fans of the franchise, but if you could get past the bugs, the poor graphics and did I mention the bugs? There was a bit of fun to be had with this entry. Launching in 2017, Friday the 13th was the David to Dead by Daylight's Goliath.
An asymmetrical multiplayer game, you either played as one of the Camp Counsellors trying to escape Jason's grasp through a variety of different methods, such as calling the police or setting up a car to speed your way out of the camp, or you played as the famous slasher himself, Jason. As Jason, your mission was to hunt down all the Counsellors before they escaped, either by catching up to them as they ran around like headless chickens or by sabotaging their escape routes.
This resulted in tense gaming sessions that provided something similar to Dead by Daylight, but different enough to set it apart. And with how many different cosmetics were added to the game, with pretty much every movie skin for Jason being available, any Friday the 13th fan had something to get excited about. As great as all this sounds, it was the reason for its downfall. Friday the 13th was taken offline in 2024 due to licences expiring. But hey, we've got Halloween now, right?
