My nostalgia may cloud my judgment a bit when it comes to my feelings on digital distribution, but I realize how it has become an invaluable part of many gamers lives. It gives gamers more personal freedom in regards to their purchases. Both Xbox Live and the Playstation Network have been increasing their library, and now nearly every new release is also released on both services. However, Valve's Steam service is the real powerhouse of digital distribution. Offering a huge library of games old and new; big and small, and great deals on a regular basis, it demonstrates the future of digital distribution more than any other service. It also benefits us from a space and resource perspective. No more paper or plastic to litter your house with, just pure game and nothing more. It cuts down on time spent driving to and from stores, which in tern cuts down on gas, as little as it might be. And for those gamers with families, or who live fast paced and complicated lives, it makes buying games fast and simple. I may be a stickler for the past, but even I cant deny the positive effect digital distribution has had on modern gaming.
