15 Most Hilariously Useless Enemies In Gaming History

By Gareth Cartwright /

1. Grunts - Halo

It's been a journey of staggering stupidity and hilarious helplessness that has brought us here, but truly Halo's Grunts are thoroughly deserving of being crowned the most pathetic enemy in gaming history. While few simple soldiers are any match for the might of Master Chief, these little critters truly take the cake of uselessness. Their attacks are dreadfully weak, but they don't even seem to actually want to impact the player; instead most Grunts seem almost hell-bent on running back and forth with their arms in the air to avoid conflict. Not only does this make them unthreatening, but they also become remarkably vulnerable to loose fire, as players let off loose streams of bullets while moving between cover spots - they are perhaps the easiest enemy in gaming history to defeat by accident. Virtual carbon copies of these useless buggers appear in Destiny, but those do at least have some intent to kill and also lack the comic squeals and screams that Halo's Grunts let off as they are vanquished. With their cries and whimpers filling the air as they dash and fall about, these little guys represent the very worst of what gaming enemies have to offer. Have we missed anyone from this list? Let us know! We'd love to hear your candidates for gaming's most useless enemies in the comments below!
