Activision's accompanying video game for Sam Raimi's 2004 Spider-Man sequel was viewed by many as the benchmark for what a superhero game could be. That is, until Batman's Arkham series came along and completely took over of course. Superior successors aside however, Spider-Man 2 did a wonderful job of putting Spidey fans into the famous red and blues and letting them free-roam around the city, stopping petty crime in between dealing with other super-heroic foes. While the freedom and execution of this was great, the challenge set by the game's minor criminals left an awful lot to be desired. Admittedly part of the point of a super hero game is that players will obviously be far more powerful than the majority of enemies, but in this game the same three button combos could see players mow down entire squads of thugs within seconds. "Here comes the Spider-Ma"-oh, he's already gone again.
