15 Resurrected Video Game Franchises That Should Stay Dead

11. Thief

The Originals: Thief began as a trilogy of three titles released between 1998 and 2004, quickly becoming renowned for their addictive and complex stealth-driven gameplay which would prove massively influential in the years that followed. The Resurrection: A decade after the last game, Thief was rebooted in glossy style, and though positively-reviewed on the whole, most critics agreed that it was quite the step down from the previous games, a more "dumbed down" experience which lacked the finesse and intricacy of the original trilogy. Why It Needs To Stay Dead: It really feels like Square Enix wanted to make a quick buck off the back of a classic franchise here, and if this is the direction they intend its future to continue in, it's probably best to just let it lie. Still, a sequel is reportedly going to happen at some point.
