10. GameCube Wavebird

Nintendo's GameCube controller is certainly worth adding to this list but was just beaten to the post by its larger brother the Wavebird. Whilst virtually identical to the original, the Wavebird added RF wireless functionality offering true cordless play. Wireless controllers had been tried before but relied on infrared line of sight tech resulting in lost transmissions and sudden in game deaths due to mistimed jumps. Thanks to the Wavebird utilizing radio frequency, a player could wander around the house controlling the action anywhere up to 90 feet away without fear of data loss. The wireless option came with a price though; the loss of rumble action due to battery drain.
