20 Hilarious Video Game Mechanics You Didn't Know Existed

5. STOP - Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines allows you to play as seven vampiric clans, each possessing its own powers and banes. In the case of the Malkiavian clan, their advantage and disadvantage both come in the shape of insanity.

From the gameplay perspective, the Malkavian clan curse causes all of your character’s dialogue to change into a series of cryptic and non-sensical lines that can often include hidden meanings that may reveal details about the world you normally wouldn’t know (provided you know how to decipher your character’s ramblings, of course).

There is also another change that happens when you play as a Malkavian, and its only purpose is to be hilarious.

Since your character is supernaturally insane, occasionally they get hidden interactions with inanimate objects to reflect their distorted mental state. One of these interactions is a chat with the news anchor on the TV in your apartment, where the man talks to your character directly. The other interaction is with a stop sign in the downtown area, in which your character will start angrily arguing with the red octagon as to who should be the one stopping.

Both of these hidden interactions don’t do anything gameplay or story-wise. However, they do a great job of making your Malkavian curse feel more immersive and funny.
