20 More Things Only Dark Souls Fans Will Understand
20. Dying When The Boss Has The Smallest Fraction Of Health Left
YES! YES! I’m about to actually beat this absolute *!&#!! Once and for all!
*boss proceeds to thwack you with a massive ultimate attack which instantly kills you*
GODAMN IT! *Throws controller though TV screen*
While dying to any boss in a game is terrible, especially when they’ve got the teeniest, tiniest smidgeon of health left, doing it in Dark Souls is 100% the absolute worst.
You’ve probably already faced said boss at least thirteen times before this happens. You’ve gone through all the stages – being owned repeatedly, then moved on to chipping away lightly at its health, then thought you’d telegraphed all the bosses’ moves, then moved on to finally being confident that THIS IS THE TIME.
It’s all going well. You’re dodging at the right times. You’re blocking at the right moments. You’ve attacking whenever you can, and that health bar is dropping down slowly but surely.
Then, before you know it, the boss is down to about 1% health. You coil yourself, ready to strike, and the boss casually swats you aside like a fly and you’re greeted with YOU DIED once again.
The. Worst.
