7. Yellow Devil - Mega Man

Although Yellow Devil from Mega Man has one major attack, it's a doozy. The cycloptic android repeatedly breaks its body into blocks that fly across the screen, forcing players to jump and dodge. After reassembling, Yellow Devil's eye appears, which is its only weak-point. The eyeball appears for a second in a random place, giving players little time to shoot it.

The Elec Beam causes more damage to Yellow Devil, so players should equip this weapon rather than relying on the Mega Buster.

However, the Blue Bomber's choice of weapon is meaningless unless players memorise Yellow Devil's pattern. Even if you remember the order perfectly, you can still die unless your reflexes are borderline superhuman.

Even though Yellow Devil is infamously difficult, there's a simple way to bypass this showdown. If Mega Man hits Yellow Devil with the Elec Beam and repeatedly pauses and unpauses, the game re-registers the single hit as new damage per frame. This glitch causes multiple hits from a single shot, obliterating Yellow Devil's health with a single shot.
