18. Shao Kahn - Mortal Kombat (2011)

Throughout 2011's Mortal Kombat Story Mode, Shao Kahn repeatedly finds way to bend or break the rules of the MK tournament in the hopes of conquering Earthrealm. For this reason, it's no surprise to learn the Outworld Emperor cheats his ass off when kombatants go toe-to-toe with him on the battlefield.

Kahn utilises input-reading and excessive blocking, rendering the most effective techniques useless. The skull-masked deity has a no-sell mechanic, so he can interrupt kombatants' attacks in mid-combo. Kahn can break his opponent's block, so it's pretty much pointless to go on the defensive. As a result, players are screwed if Kahn pins them into a corner.

But if Kahn isn't going to play nice, why should you? If players maintain their distance, they can shoot a barrage of projectiles until Kahn's health bar is empty. He'll occasionally retaliate in kind, but should go down long before you do. Even if Kahn blocks (and he will), you can chip away at his health until there's nothing left. 

(For the record, I've never defeated Shao Kahn without using this method. I know. Shameful.)
