20 Recent Incredible Video Games That Came Out Of NOWHERE

13. Dispatch

Dispatch had the perfect recipe for success: a distinctive art style, a unique blend of mechanics, a stellar voice cast and creative team — yet, for some reason, there was very little buzz around the game when it first dropped in late 2025. Its genius was quickly recognized, though, with the game selling a million copies within 10 days of release.

Dispatch blends story game elements with management sim mechanics, placing the player in the role of a superhero dispatcher in charge of choosing which crime fighters respond to an emergency.

It comes from AdHoc Studios, a developer made up of former employees of companies like Ubisoft and Telltale Games. The game’s stellar storytelling, which was almost-universally lauded by critics, is made even better by Dispatch’s cast, which includes Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, Jeffrey Wright of James Bond fame, as well as content creators like jacksepticeye and MoistCr1TiKaL.

It racked up a bevy of nominations and wins come award season, and the future is bright for Dispatch and its developer, too. AdHoc has teamed up with Critical Role to potentially turn Dispatch into an animated series, as well as produce another game set in the Critical Role universe.
