19 Things Video Game Fans Are SICK Of

3. Console Inflation

Three years ago, this writer had the opportunity to buy an XBox Series X for £300. However, with a PS5, Switch and gaming laptop already in his possession, the offer was politely declined.

Suffice it to say, this writer is now kicking himself. The Series X now has an RRP of £670, meaning that selling it second hand would still have garnered a profit. Heck, it might have even covered most of the cost for a PS5 Pro, which is *checks notes* seven hundred and ninety pounds?! Good grief...

This console generation has seen an upheaval of many of the old ways, and one of the worst reversals of tradition is that consoles are now becoming more expensive over time. Every iteration of the PS5 and XBox Series X/S is more expensive now than when it launched six years ago, and the Switch 2 was out for little over a year before raising its price.

The cause behind this isn't exactly a secret - AI companies hoovering up RAM like it was toilet paper in the early days of COVID -which is yet another reminder why the average joe doesn't quite see anything 'super' about this type of intelligence, no matter what facile rebranding it undergoes.
