9. Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic

Though the Star Wars IP is suffering through some growing pains right now, there was tremendous excitement the moment that Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic was announced.

A spiritual successor to the all-timer Star Wars RPG Knights of the Old Republic, Fate of the Old Republic will be helmed by KOTOR director Casey Hudson at his new outfit Arcanaut Studios.

The gorgeous cinematic reveal trailer was more of a tone-setter than anything, but confirmed that players will unsurprisingly take control of a Force user on an epic journey through the galaxy.

Considering the hallowed legacy of the KOTOR games, there's an enormous weight of expectation for this follow-up to deliver a story-rich, detail-orientated RPG that also engages with the Star Wars IP in a meaningful way.

But given the talent at the forefront, it's easy to be optimistic about this one. And despite the game still being early in development, Hudson has promised fans that it will definitely be released before 2030.
