8. Fable

Few franchises have made fans wait longer for a new fully-fledged installment than Fable, given that Fable III was released all the way back in 2010. 

Since then, there have been a few spin-offs and cancelled projects, as well as the closure of original developer Lionhead Studios, before it was announced in 2020 that Forza Horizon developer Playground Games was working on a Fable reboot.

And after several years of delays, the new Fable is finally almost upon us which will reimagine the world of Albion while retaining the series' core tenets - an emphasis on player freedom and choice, and of course, a quintessentially British sense of humour.

The protagonist will set off on an adventure to discover who turned the inhabitants of their village, including their dear grandmother, to stone.

From what we've seen so far, Fable looks like a gorgeous, hilarious breath of fresh air in the RPG space and one that also won't dominate your life, given that the critical path is just a tight 20 hours. You love to see it.

Fable releases on February 23, 2027.
