6. Final Fantasy 7 Remake - Release TBA

E3 2015 proved to be one of Sony’s best showings in the company’s gaming history. As well as confirming that The Last Guardian was alive and announcing Shenmue 3, the platform holder also revealed that Final Fantasy VII was being remade by Square Enix and would be coming first to PlayStation 4. It was quite the trio of announcements, leaving fans agog.

Following the shock reveal the Final Fantasy hype machine understandably moved over to the much closer to release Final Fantasy XV, a game which finally hit store shelves in November 2016. But now it’s Final Fantasy VII’s time. This game has the potential to be one of the biggest PS4 releases of all time, such is the level of hype surrounding it. As we’ve seen in the snippets of gameplay footage, the remake does away with the original’s turn-based combat system and features true exploration of the game world.

When Final Fantasy VII Remake is released is anyone’s guess at this time, but don’t bet on 2017.
