20 Video Game Enemies Designed To RUIN Your Day
9. Nuribotoke - Labyrinth of the Demon King
Labyrinth of the Demon King can be a fairly gruelling experience in the early game. The visceral melee combat and frequent surprise attacks from enemies lurking around corners fosters a very oppressive atmosphere, one that's bolstered significantly by the low-poly visuals, giving the game a unique sense of dread and panic.
After battling your way upstairs and meeting the mischievous merchant, you'll be asked to retrieve a key-item from a shrine downstairs, which seems like a fairly innocuous request on first glance. What the merchant doesn't clue you in on though, is that by removing this object, you will activate a curse and incur the wrath of the Nuribotoke.
A grotesque, lumbering yokai that will relentlessly pursue you around the estate. Popping up at the worst possible times to disrupt whatever you're doing, usually when you're about to find a key item, or confronted with a group of enemies that have just spotted you.
It is possible to get rid of him, by embarking on a dangerous, and optional, journey to retrieve the object and return it to the shrine. Trust us, you'll want to do this!
