20 Video Game NPCs You CAN'T Afford To Lose

3. Three Dog - Fallout 3

Three Dog is the charismatic host of Fallout 3's Galaxy News Radio. He is one of the most beloved characters in the game thanks to his reports on the Lone Wanderer's deeds and his overall friendly personality.

Although most players know him as the incorporeal voice that plays out of their Pip-Boys, Three Dog is actually a proper NPC in the game, operating out of the GNR building plaza. This means that the player can physically visit him and have a chat in person, but it also means that, like other NPCs, Three Dog can die.

And if he does, the quality of radio broadcasts in the Capital Wasteland goes down with him.

Should the player kill Three Dog or should the host somehow die over the course of the story, his voice will disappear from the Galaxy News Radio station forever. His coworker Margaret replaces him as the new host, and the broadcast becomes significantly worse.

Unlike Three Dog, Margaret will not even try to do her job. Most of her reporting consists of complaining about Three Dog's murder, being annoyed at her job, and generally being as entertaining as drywall.

She will also not report on your current doings, so if you like your host fun and engaged with your story, make sure to keep Three Dog alive.
