20 Video Game Reveals That Shocked the World

17. Keanu Reeves In Cyberpunk 2077

Celebrity appearances at games conferences tend to be more awkward than awesome, because more often than not the talent in question are contractually obligated to be there while having little genuine passion for games as a medium.

But that certainly wasn't the case when, at E3 2019, CD Projekt Red revealed that Keanu Reeves would be appearing in Cyberpunk 2077 as the character Johnny Silverhand.

More to the point, they didn't only show Reeves' face in-game - he then emerged on the E3 stage and waxed enthusiastically about working on it.

It didn't hurt that Reeves was riding a major career resurgence at the time thanks to the John Wick franchise, but he also seemed legitimately thrilled to be there.

And of course, who can forget when a member of the audience shouted "You're breathtaking!," to which Reeves quickly replied that the entire assembled audience was indeed breathtaking.

It was a rare A-lister appearance at E3 that felt completely genuine, and only bolstered the PR of one of the decade's most anticipated games - no matter how its launch turned out.
