20 Video Game Side Quests That BROKE You

10. Birth of the Conservation Movement (Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare)

Red Dead Redemption's utterly bombastic Undead Nightmare DLC is an over-the-top thrill ride that trades out cowboy realism for zombie horror. Given how ludicrous the concept is, you wouldn't be wrong in assuming that there's nothing but gore, comedy, and fun in this expansion pack - especially for a side quest based on Sasquatches, right? Well, hold on to your hats, partners, cause this one hits hard.

"Birth of the Conservation Movement" follows John Marston's mission to kill six roaming Sasquatches, after a frontiersman assures him they've eaten babies. Once you've taken five of these hairy apes down, you'll come across the last one sobbing and begging you to kill him.

The creature reveals that their kind doesn't eat babies at all, and that they live peacefully in the hills. Sadly, he's now the last of his kind, with no hope to save his species, no remaining family, and no chance of finding happiness again, leaving you to decide whether to finish him off or not.

This mission forces you to sit with the knowledge that your trigger-happy fingers have caused needless pain and suffering. How does it feel to know you've ended a species? Not very nice, is it?
