20 Video Game Side Quests That BROKE You
5. Forget Me Not (Yakuza: Like A Dragon)
When you think of the side content from the Yakuza series, your mind is going to naturally drift toward the outlandish moments, like goofy kart races, grown men's baby clubs, and overly dramatic fishing. Still, while a lot of this content will make you cry with laughter, the series will also happily make you weep.
The 32nd substory of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, "Forget Me Not," starts when Ichiban is stopped by a young woman named Kaede. She reveals that he once saved her from a group of assailants, and that she's wanted to meet him again ever since, but couldn't as her health problems kept her confined to a hospital bed. But now that she's out, she wants to complete her bucket list, so you take her on a variety of fun dates.
Everything seems sweet, but there's this lingering sense that something is wrong, as Ichiban keeps getting strange looks, and no one else seems able to see Kaede. It eventually becomes apparent that Kaede isn't really there, as she's already passed away.
The inclusion of a substory so emotional, tender, and tragic is a testament to how this series can hit any emotion it wants to.
